Yorkshire Tech Sector Grows 23% in 2025

Yorkshire's tech sector has grown 23% year-on-year according to a new report from Tech Nation, making it one of the fastest growing digital economies outside of London.

The report highlights Leeds as a particular hotspot, with over 150 new tech companies founded in the last 12 months. Sheffield's digital corridor continues to attract talent from across the North, while York's data science and AI cluster is gaining national recognition.

Key drivers include the growing presence of established tech firms opening regional offices, a strong pipeline of university graduates, and increasingly competitive commercial rents compared to London and Manchester.

"Yorkshire has always had the talent and the work ethic," said one regional tech leader. "What's changed is that investors and corporates are finally paying attention. The infrastructure is here, the people are here, and the cost base makes it a no-brainer."
